Social Worker I. SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME A) Child Labor Sensitization programme As part of its advocacy programme we work to make people aware about the rights of Indigenous people. These activities were organized at Vasa on 10th May, 2015. Punch line of this campaign is that “Every people have rights to live with dignity, every woman and child has right to be literate.” B) Self Help Group Sensitization Camp As part of Women Empowerment Programme Shilparghya Jalkhura organized Sensitization camps on SHGs at Maheshtala, 24-Pgs(S) on 24th May, 2015. It was a very successful programme for the year. C) Health Sensitization Camp Health Sensitization camp for all was organized at Maheshtala, on 20th September, 2015 and also. Doctors were present for health Check-up of beneficiaries in the camps. More than 80 people were treated and diagnosed through the camps. We also organize Awareness Programme regarding communicative diseases. D) Mother and Child Health Under the overall health care system support, specialized support services were initiated to particular segments of the rural population. Mother and child health was one such project. It is a comprehensive health care project to target mothers and young children, with the belief that better health to mothers and children automatically reflects better health of family members. The important project elements are:- - Awareness to the community, particularly to women on health, anti and post natal care, hygiene and sanitation, environment up keep etc. -Formation of health groups, group discussions and regular meetings. -Health education camps through innovative means to mothers. -Immunization of pregnant women and infants/children, health monitoring of women during pregnancy and after delivery. -Growth monitoring of infants. -Free health check-up camp. This programme held on 19th September, 2015 at Maheshtala. E) AIDS/HIV Control Programme This programme was to educate people, particularly adolescents and young adults, about sexually transmission diseases (STD) and HIV/AIDS. The programme includes awareness generation regarding AIDS/HIV, modes of transmission of the virus/infection and preventive measures. Special emphasis was also laid on removing the prevailing misconceptions and social taboo through the publications of posters, charts, handbills etc. In this regards organization has been following the guideline of WHO and maintaining a strong linkage with District Health Administration. This programme held on 21st September, 2015 at Maheshtala. F) Consumer Affairs Programme We also organized the Consumer Awarness and protection camp during this year. About 60 men and women from different community participated in this programme at Thakurpukur, Joka on 27th December, 2015. Many dignitaries spoke on the occasion. The programme was a grand success. II. Vocational Training Programme Shilparghya Jalkhura has been running Training Programme for young women and adolescents on different crafts. Organization has very efficient and qualified Vocational Instructors who are giving training to the beneficiaries. These kind of Vocational Training for women are being organized at Vasa, 24-Pgs(s) on 24th and 25th December, 2015 to make them self reliant through initiating their own small business. It is a successful and self sustain programme of the organization A) Soft Toy Making Thirty five women are taking on soft toy making training at our own training centre since l998. Most of them are skilled now and started to earn money B) Fabric/Knitting/Embroidery/Applique Shilparghya Jalkhura providing Embroidery, Fabric, Knitting, Applique etc training at Office premises, among the women who were unemployed and many of them are self employed now with this crafts. They are making new and market demanding designs. C) Embossing Different types of diversified products like embossing, glass paintings, etching and frosting are useful for household and ever demanded crafts. Shilparghya Jalkhura providing this training program among the needy people. They are making different types of household materials regularly. III. Educational programme Education is one of the important components, which is being focused by the organization. Objective of our Educational program is to improve status of children and their mother also in the society and to make learning life oriented things so that use of knowledge will help all kind of alleviating poverty and improve people’s lives. Keep in this mind Shilparghya Jalkhura, providing them basic education at Purulia on & from 24th Dec. 2015 to 1st Jan., 2016 at free of cost. This year we gave tuition to the poor students of different classes without any charges. More than 15 students have benefited from this free tuition. IV. Handicapped Welfare Programme Organization organizes awareness camps for handicapped people. Through various activities organization make people aware about the Government facilities and schemes for handicapped people. Some handicapped children of our organization participated in the Handicapped Day Festival organized by Deptt.of Women Development & Social Welfare, Government of West Bengal at Rabindrasadan on and from 3rd to 5th December, 2016. Our member Shri Sudarpan Rakshit, Swapan Malik and Kousik Banerjee were given the State Award for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities – 2015. Mentor was Shri Biswajit Ghosh. V. Cultural Programme Shilparghya Jalkhura, create an environment of communal harmony and national integration in its working areas. In this context several activities like, Independence Day Celebration, Republic Day Celebration, Rabindra Jayanti, Women’s Day Celebration, Netaji Birthday Celebration, Gurusaday Dutt’s birthday celebration etc. A Cultural Function was held with the help of Production Grant Scheme (CFPGS), Ministry of Culture, Government of India on “Chhow” at Bratacharigram, Joka, Thakurpurkur, Kolkata-700 104. The Programme was held on and from 28th November to 2nd December, 2015. This workshop was residential near about 60 boys and girls were participate in this workshop including 12 handicapped. A few documentaries were also screened in this festival. A Seminar on “Chhow” was also held on 01-12-15. The Chief Speaker was Dr. Indrani Dutt Satpathi and Dr. Bijon Kr. Mondal precided over the programme. This programme was highly appreciated by the all those who were presents. VI. Environmental Protection Every year “Shilparghya” organizes the World Environmental Day with plantation and cultural activities in its working areas. VII. Sports Every year ‘Shilparghya’ organizes it’s Annual Sports among the club members, their family members and the local children and also their parents for socio-economic and cultural development. This year we organized Annual sports competition for the members and their guardians. Besides them also the students of different schools participated in various events of the competition. About 50 competitors were the participants in these sports. Sports was held on 10th January, 2016 at Maheshtala. Three prizes were given for each event Moreover 10 certificates were given to the participants. VIII. Sit & Draw About 200 hundred competitors of different age group like (Up to -8, 8-12, 12-16 and 16 above) were the participants in the Sit and Draw Competition, held on 24th January, 2016, at Maheshtala, 24-Pgs(S). Three prizes were given for each events. Moreover 10 Certificates were given to the participants. IX. Social Forestry Programme To make the world green, to make the society pollution free to being a fresh environment in the project area organization has distributed numbers of trees among the inhabitants living target villages. Additionally it involves the SHGs as the tool to spread the idea through the importance of the forestry. X. Social Works Programme Shilparghya Jalkhura has distributed some dresses to the extremely economically poor children during the year. The organization also distributed some shoes to the poor students. Dr. Manojit Adhikary, the Secretary, accepted the invitation from Valo Pahar, Purulia and gave Bratachari Training and also Education to the students there from 24th December, 2015 to 1st January, 2016. They embraced this training with great joy and since then they have been practicing the Bratachari programme. The organization has started First-Aid, Home Nursing, Mother and Child Welfare and Health and Hygi Hygiene Sanitation Training Courses etc. XI. Thalassemia Awarness Programme A Seminar under the banner of Shilparghya Jalkhura on Thalassemia Awarness Programme was held with the help of SERUM Thalassemia Prevention Federation on 20th September, 2015 at Maheshtala. The presence of audience was Satisfactory. XII. Blood Donation Camp This year a blood donation motivation and blood donation camp was held on 20th September, 2015 at Maheshtala, 24-Pgs(s), 26 persons.
